This past week was Sterling's spring break and although we both still had to work ...we still managed to have some fun! On Wednesday we drove about 2 hours southeast of us and went to Stratford Hall Plantation. This was the family plantation home of Robert E. Lee. The house was beautiful and HUGE.
This was the outside kitchen where all the meals would be prepared. They would have the main kitchen in a separate building so if it went up in smoke...the main house would be safe.
This was a random little cabin on the property. I am convinced if we lived back then, this is probably were we would be...but happy!
We also visited the birthplace of George Washington. It was right on the water.
This is where the original house was. They found this foundation after they built a replica of where they thought the house was...about 100 feet away from where we were standing. At least they have the real foundation!
This is Pope's creek. It is right on the property and makes for a beautiful view!
We had such a great time going to visit these two places. One of the best things about being married to Sterling is how much he LoVeS history! He is so fun to go places with because he is my own little tour guide. Even better that we live in an area that is so rich with things to see.
That's our trip....

I am so not good with history!! I need major help in that area. Looks like you had fun. When are you visiting again? (Visiting Utah that is)!
That sounds fun. You guys are always doing great stuff! We love you and miss you!
I wish I lived back East for that reason. There is so much to see and learn from those awesome sites. I echo Lacy's request- when are you coming to Utah?
what a fun outing! I haven't seen any of those sites, but I'm sure it's so awesome. There's just not that kind of history in Utah....although we can't overlook the "This is the Place" state park!
I need your email address!
wow how fun.. It is so fun to see what it would have been like to livebackthen and share in some history...talk to you soon
That sounds so fun! That is one of the greatest things about Sterling, his love for history. I wish that I was there seeing it with you. You look darling by the way.

How exciting to live in that part of the country so rich with history. Make every moment count while you're there and see it ALL! I am so envious...I would move East tomorrow if I could!
